Radio Fun

May 6th, 2008

In the event that you are fortunate enough to live in the West Michigan area, have I got a treat for you.

Want a hint on what it is?

Well, it has nothing to do with giant piles of snow, conservative Dutch religious types, or breakfast cereal producer Kelloggs. (How’s that for defining West Michigan?) It does however have to do with local radio station WaYfm (89.9fm in Grand Rapids, 88.3 in Kalamazoo).

You see, in addition to writing CD reviews for one of the local papers, I now do reviews on the radio. So if you live in the area (or if you wanted to listen online at www.way.fm), tune in every Tuesday morning around 7:30am for a rundown of the new releases and my two cents on each one.

What does this have to do with Thom and/or Tom? Well nothing, but can’t you just be happy for me? Just this once?

Geez.

I never meant it for evil…

I love using subject lines that have no bearing on what I’ll actually talk about.

The real story is this: In addition to being the most talented unpublished author to date, I am officially a playwright. Officially. Last Saturday, my play “The Story of Noah” was performed by a talented cast of 4-through-8-year-olds for a group of grandmothers at the bookstore where I work. I tell you, nothing is more satisfying than seeing your creative masterpiece being played out in front of you. Well, probably a few things are more satisfying, but rather than dwell on those, think about this: puppies.

Wasn’t that pleasant?
